The Berghaus Extrem Ilam Men’s 850 Fill Lightweight Down Jacket is a really effective bad-weather jacket that can be worn on its own or under a shell.

A principal feature of this jacket, which is part of the Berghaus Extrem elite range, is its body-mapped insulation which incorporates additional goose down insulation around the core of the torso and the hood to complement the body’s own thermo-regulation.

Down insulation is renowned for its loss of performance when wet but the Hydrodown insulation continues to perform in wet conditions because it is hydrophobic, repelling water thanks to its advanced DWR treatment. So the Hydrodown goose down used in the Berghaus Extrem Ilam Men’s 850 Fill Lightweight Down Jacket has a better performance profile in terms of less water take up resulting in a faster drying time and therefore quicker loft recovery. It is therefore able to provide a significantly better level of insulation and keep the wearer warmer, drier and more comfortable in bad weather conditions than non-treated down would achieve.
